Challenge Poverty Month

Every October, people and organisations across Cornwall come together to Challenge Poverty and shine a light on the realities of poverty and inequality in our communities.

It’s a chance to celebrate the incredible work being done by local organisations, volunteers and communities, while helping to build greater understanding of the challenges faced by people experiencing poverty and disadvantage.

As part of the month, Cornwall Independent Poverty Forum are encouraging all groups to think about how you could open your doors and share your work with someone who can help amplify your message. This could be a local councillor, MP, community leader, faith leader or another local decision-maker.

Inviting someone to visit your project is a great opportunity to showcase the difference you’re making, thank your staff and volunteers, and give your visitor a chance to hear directly about the experiences of the people and communities you support.

Most importantly, Challenge Poverty Month is about coming together to build a fairer Cornwall, making sure the voices and experiences of people facing poverty are heard, and celebrating the people and organisations working every day to make a difference.

If you’re getting involved this October, we’d love to hear about it and see how you’re helping to Challenge Poverty in your community.

For more information about this you can contact Andrew from Cornwall Independent Poverty Forum on Andrewy@cornwallindependentpovertyforum.com. The information from your visits will be included it in the CPW 2026 report so please do share with Andrew.
