Camelford and District Age Concern
Camelford and District Age Concern were one of 40 community projectsA piece of work that delivers an output. in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in 2018 to benefit from a grant of £400 from the Cornwall Glass FundA sum of money made available for grant making, often with specific criteria/conditions. as the company celebrated their 40th business year. The money supported the purchase of a new bus with the capacity to carry old persons and their electric wheel chairs. The group were just short of their fundraising total of £54,000 and needed the final amount. The Age Concern group provide support for community residents over the age of 50, offering a door-to-door minibus service. With very limited public transport available in the area, the minibus offers a means of escaping the 'four walls' of confinement within the home. The service also enables folk to visit larger towns and cities, a supermarket, or places of interest "The folk who use the bus on a regular basis are keen to keep the bus on the road, so much so that over the last few years they have made personal donations so that it can be replaced".
