Cornwall Pride provide safe space for members and allies of the queer community
Cornwall Community Foundation are incredibly proud of the work Cornwall Pride are doing for the people of Cornwall and are delighted to be able to support them financially.
Earlier this year, Cornwall Pride were awarded a grant of £5,000 from our Community Fund which will be used to support their Penguin Soup hub, a safe and inclusive space for members of the queer community and allies from across Cornwall to come together. This space is vital in reducing feelings of loneliness, isolation, and to address poor mental health within the LGBTQ+ community.
Cornwall Pride tackle a myriad of social issues and the negative impact these have on individuals’ health and wellbeing. These social issues have been exacerbated due to the recent Coronavirus pandemic and will continue to grow, particularly at lower household incomes. This funding will provide the Cornish community with a place for early intervention who currently only engage with services until they reach crisis, or it is too late, due to a fear, lack of understanding and prejudice.
