Grant from Goonhilly Wind Farm funds new accessible facilities at community hall
A grant of £5,000 from the Goonhilly Wind Farm Fund has enabled Village Hall and Walled Garden Charity to install modern toilets in their village hall.
Lambeage Hall is situated right on the coast in the village of Coverack. It’s sea views make it the perfect spot to hold weddings, parties and community events. Their old toilet facilities, which were situated in the entrance foyer, were old fashioned and unhygienic and put off prospective business from hiring the hall.
Thanks to the recent funding they can now offer their guests, modern, spacious facilities complete with baby changing and wheelchair accessible. This has boosted business and raised community morale.
Examples of the positive impact this funding has made:
“We have been astonished at how quickly these improved facilities have made a difference. The Management Committee have seen members of the community literally take a step backwards in surprise and delight when they enter the hall and see the improved facilities. Bookings, and therefore income, have increased. The private parties were delighted. We have heard in the past that perspecitve hirers have been put off by the poor toilets..”
“One of our regular users found the old toilets very embarrassing as he had to change his colostomy bag and drain his catheter in a cubilcle open at the top within a shared toilet space. He was starting to avoid coming to the hall for social events and entertainment. He really appreciates the roomy accessible toilet and that fact that it is a floor to ceiling individual unit.”
