CCF Staff and Trustees enjoyed a sunny afternoon at Newquay Orchard

Six years ago, Newquay Orchard was a patch a land that Luke Berkely, Chief Executive of Newquay Orchard visioned being an urban greenspace in the centre of Newquay. The aim of the project was to create a productive growing and community space that provides vital amenity for both residents and wildlife all around. Built by the community, for the community, the garden is now a place for people to come together to grow, learn and relax.

Through investment, sponsorship, partnership working and grant funding including funding from CCF, Newquay Orchard flourished into the not-so-secret community garden of culture, education and collaboration that it is today.

Across the seven acre site sits a market garden, a wild wood, the espalier, a traditional orchard, the volunteer hub and Kowel Gwenen, a community building with co-workspaces and Canteen at the Orchard serving fresh produce from the market garden daily.

Thank you to all the team at Newquay Orchard for inviting CCF Staff and Trustees to spend the afternoon at the community garden. The sun shone over us all and we had such a delightful afternoon finding out about all the amazing work Newquay Orchard has done and will carry on doing for the Cornish community and beyond.
