Grant amount:  £9,934
Grant programme:

The Integrated Care Board Health and Wellbeing Fund

IgniteYou empowers people to take ownership of their health through movement, nutrition and coaching. The grant of just under £10K meant they were able to successfully deliver Disability Health Hubs to vulnerable and disabled young people & young adults on a regular basis.

Grant awarded and impact

Sessions focus on mental health collaborating with a creative or practical activity. They have used creative crafts, cooking & nutrition, movement & dance, yoga and wellbeing sessions to support the mental health of beneficiaries who often have more than one disability. Most of our beneficiaries have moderate to complex needs.

Beneficiaries have reported an increase or improvement in their self-esteem, confidence, mental health and wellbeing and level of activity. They have reported a reduction in feeling isolated, lonely or stressed.

The Hub project was designed to be flexible which enabling IgniteYou to adapt delivery to what is needed. During the winter months they concentrated on mental health, adding light and laughter to those cold and wet months. In the new year they focused on a course of Yoga which combined gentle strengthening movements with relaxation and breathing techniques perfect to support the new year. The Hub project has given a continual investment in disabled people’s mental health and wellbeing, “thank you – it has been really impactful!”

Attending the hub project is J’s highlight of the week, it gives him a chance to socialise with his peers & work alongside them, learning new skills together. It has given him the opportunity to help others if they are struggling & in turn, they have helped him. He is much more confident & eager to become more involved with cooking & is even trying new foods he would never touch before’ –

J’s parents, an adult in his 20s with autism and learning disabilities.
