Lanherne Fund visits Trevisker Community Meadow

In July, Wouter and Susie, Grant Officer and Philanthropy Director at CCF, invited Sarah, from the Lanherne FundA sum of money made available for grant making, often with specific criteria/conditions., to see their funding in action over at Trevisker Community Meadow in Padstow.

Trevisker Community Meadow CIC aims to bring community and environmental opportunities together in one location; a community space, to connect people of all ages and abilities with nature and wildlife.

Th group recently received funding from the Lanherne fund which supported staff costs and the purchase of plant beds. This has been used to deliver hands-on, green workshops from which volunteers and young people from local schools and colleges have and will be able to continue to benefit for many years to come.

Rob Stevenson, Director of Trevisker Community Meadow, describes how it was great to see school children able to return throughout the different seasons, experiencing the process from sowing the seed, to smilingly harvesting (and eating!) their own grown carrot. He also went onto discuss how the impact has reached even further, with the farmer, whose land they rent, learnt new ways to work with nature instead of against it. Rob told us:

“The farmer who rents out his land to us came to visit and told us that the Trevisker Community Meadow projectA piece of work that delivers an output. made him realise that for his entire career as a farmer, he had been destroying and working against nature. Now, the wildflower meadow is his absolute favourite place of the over 300 acres he owns.”
