The North Cornwall Fund

A £2,000 grant from the North Cornwall Fund has enabled Lanhydrock Cricket Club to update its grounds and become fully accessible for disabled spectators and players.

Since the 1970s, users of Lanhydrock Cricket Club (LCC) have struggled with access to the club’s facilities due to unsuitable grounds. The unstable grounds made it very difficult for wheelchair users, the elderly, and other less abled people to gain access to these. This has resulted in many people not being able to go out and enjoy the sport they love.

A recent grant from the North Cornwall Fund has meant the LCC can upgrade its pathways and provide safe and convenient access for all. This path has seen more spectators coming to watch the club and an uplift in participation in the club’s activities.

Lanhydrock Cricket Club told us:

“Users have shared how these changes have made attending events easier and more inclusive, creating a stronger sense of community. Families and carers have also highlighted the positive impact on accessibility and involvement. This project has made the club more welcoming, allowing more people to enjoy and contribute to its activities and vibrant atmosphere.”
