The Greenbank and Alverton Fund

Penn An Dre Residents Association works to engage, motivate and encourage residents of the area to work together to improve and take responsibility for the quality of life and physical environment of the estate and surrounding communities. To encourage a sense of community spirit and togetherness for everyone who lives there. They do this by working together with the community, putting on practical and fun activities and projects throughout the year.

Grant awarded and impact

The team worked with Truro Council, Safer Streets, Zebs, and Young People Cornwall to create a youth club. To ensure the continuation of the club funding was needed for rental for the building, qualified youth workers, food, drink and activities for the kids to enjoy. The group were awarded £5,000 from the Greenbank and Alverton Hotel Fund.

The grant enabled the club to run for an additional 20 weeks during which there was a significant reduction in anti-social behaviour reported in the local area.
