Grant awarded and impact
The team worked with Truro Council, Safer Streets, Zebs, and Young People Cornwall to create a youth club. To ensure the continuation of the club funding was needed for rental for the building, qualified youth workers, food, drink and activities for the kids to enjoy. The group were awarded £5,000 from the Greenbank and Alverton Hotel FundA sum of money made available for grant making, often with specific criteria/conditions..
The grant enabled the club to run for an additional 20 weeks during which there was a significant reduction in anti-social behaviour reported in the local area.
Many residents of the community have thanked the club for all the one-on-one work that was done to help individuals channel their energy in a much positive way.
Andrew Hall – Chairman, Penn An Dre Residents Association
I enjoyed being able to mess around with my friends after school and play games. My brother came along and enjoyed the tie-dye activity.
