Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society welcomes new participants thanks to Tanner Trust Fund
The Tanner Trust Fund
A grant of £3,800 from the Tanner Trust FundA sum of money made available for grant making, often with specific criteria/conditions. has enabled the Royal Cornwall Polytechnic Society to offer affordable science and history activities, helping to engage local communities, particularly in Falmouth and the surrounding area.
We know that early engagement in science activities sparks interest in these fields, and connecting local history to personal identity has a positive effect on community wellbeing. The exhibition on medals, re-launched with artist Lucy Willow, exceeded expectations of visitor numbers.
The society partnered with local community groups to successfully recruit participants. And a new addition to the programme, the Victorian science demo by Prof Ed Gillin, drew significant interest. Ed plans to continue developing this concept for future events.
One particularly rewarding moment was the Electric Car workshop, where intergenerational teams of parents, children, and even grandparents worked together on model cars, strengthening bonds and providing a fun, shared experience.
