‘Sing Along the River’ event brings the community together

Jack Moon & Lors Fund

A £2,000 grant, funded by the Jack Moon and Lors Fund in 2023, was awarded to Really Lovely Projects CiC who played a pivotal role in supporting Sing Along the River.

Sing Along the River is an outdoor event in Lostwithiel which showcases the best of Cornwall’s community singing groups and local Male Voice Choirs.

Nestled under the trees on Lostwithiel’s Parade Gardens, alongside the banks of the Fowey, singers gather from all over Cornwall to perform on a beautiful stage under bunting and festoon lights.

Now an annual event, it fosters a strong sense of community spirit, bringing residents together and inspiring participation in local singing groups, volunteering initiatives, and other cultural activities.

By strengthening connections within the town, the event encourages individuals to engage more deeply with Lostwithiel’s creative and cultural scene, exploring new opportunities to stay involved. Its accessibility as a free event ensures that everyone can participate and enjoy the experience.

One volunteer shared that the event had profoundly transformed her life, bringing her immense joy. Despite having lived in the area all her life, she expressed that the most meaningful and enduring friendships she has formed have been a direct result of her involvement with Sing Along the River.
