With funding for new tables, the Tuesday Club continues supporting people with memory loss

Sedel-Collins Foundation
Meaningful activity and opportunities for social interaction are key for maintaining a good quality of life for people experiencing memory problems. The Tuesday Club seeks to provide both while lightening the load of families providing care for their loved ones.
In November 2024, New Life Church in Bodmin were awarded nearly £1,500 to support their Tuesday Club. Having moved from temporary premises to a newly renovated church building, the group had access to a warm and newly decorated environment but no tables for their use.

For the first few gatherings, volunteers running the club brought in picnic tables from home. This worked as a temporary solution, but the club could not welcome any new people to the group and the situation was not ideal.
With money from the Sedel-Collings Foundation grant funding, provided through Cornwall Community Foundation, the Tuesday Club could purchase folding tables. This small change has made a huge difference. They are easily stored away, can be easily moved around during sessions, and allow the group to play games and quizzes, spend time doing art and crafts together, and of course eat lunch.
“We now have ten people living with dementia regularly attending the group and we have nine volunteers and we would all like to express out thanks to the Cornwall Community Foundation, we have really appreciated and benefited from your support. Thank you!” – Brenda, Tuesday Club
Attending this group regularly provides structure in the week for attendees. It gives them something to look forward to, something to talk about, and somewhere they can share and make friends. Unpaid family carers also appreciate the opportunity to spend that time without the pressure of caregiving. Cornwall Community Foundation and Sedel-Collings are proud to be able to support the continuation of this work. We look forward to seeing the continued impact of the group in and around Bodmin.
