The Young and Talented FundA sum of money made available for grant making, often with specific criteria/conditions. supports exceptional young talent in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, aiding those in sports and arts hindered by hardship or disability.
The Young and Talented Fund strives to help young individuals across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, who have demonstrated outstanding talent in a particular field – such as sport and the arts – but are struggling to achieve their ambition or progress in their chosen career because of hardship or disability.

Grant requirements
Who can apply
Young people and children aged from 14 to 23 years old, residents of Cornwall and Isles of Scilly, priority given to those with backgrounds of economic hardship.
What it will support:
- Equipment
- Activity costs (e.g. competition fees, travel, accommodation)
- Training costs
- Specialist clothing
- Any other costs associated with the young person’s talent.
- Retrospective costs
- Costs not related to the area of talent
Launched in 2005 as The Lord Lieutenant’s Fund for Youth by Lady Mary Holborow and Michael Galsworthy, the fund supports exceptional young talent in Cornwall. Now called Young & Talented Cornwall, it is led by Colonel Edward Bolitho KCVO OBE, the current Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall.
