Eight groups in Liskeard supported by the Lyskerrys Fund

Cornwall Community Foundation and the Lyskerrys Fund are delighted to announce the first round of grants from this new fund, awarding a total of £25,580 to eight projects across the Liskeard area that are helping people build skills, strengthen communities and improve wellbeing.

Supporting local enterprise and innovation, grants have been awarded to Tech Cornwall to deliver two digital workshops that will help local businesses develop their online capabilities, and to Bumblebee Design Treasures to support the growth of its crafting microbusiness.

Young people will also benefit from funding for a two-day Extraordinary Explorers STEM workshop, giving local 11–14-year-olds the opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering and maths through engaging, hands-on activities. Meanwhile, Lighthouse Community Centre CIC has received funding for an after-school club for children aged 5–12, alongside training for new members of staff.

Recognising the importance of mental health and emotional wellbeing, the Fund has awarded grants to Penhaligon’s Friends (Pictured) to deliver a monthly support group for bereaved children, young people and families in Liskeard, and to Pegasus Men’s Wellbeing Centre to provide subsidised one-to-one counselling for people aged 16 and over.

Funding has also been awarded to support the planning phase of a new village hall in Trewidland, helping to lay the foundations for a valuable community asset that will serve local residents for years to come. In addition, Active Living Fitness CIC has received funding to purchase new gym equipment, enabling more people to access opportunities to improve their health and wellbeing.

Together, these eight grants demonstrate the Lyskerrys Fund’s ongoing commitment to investing in the people, organisations and community projects that are making a lasting difference across the Liskeard area.
