High Sheriff Of Cornwall Active Eight Challenge

Jane Hartley, High Sheriff of Cornwall, has launched a fund introducing sport and outdoor activity to young people with mental health issues. Jane has taken on a challenge to attempt eight sports she has never tried before to raise funds during her shrieval year as well as cycling 90 miles, swimming 1.5 miles and running 5.5 miles all across Cornwall.

Jane said “I feel very honoured that Cornwall has given me this platform for one year and I would like to give back to Cornwall with your help. Sport has always been at the centre of my life. It makes me feel alive, sorts out any negative thoughts and brings joy to my day. If that’s what it does for me, I know it could bring enormous benefits to young people suffering with mental health difficulties.”

To raise money and awareness for her mental health fund, Jane is already in training to cycle, run and swim the length of Cornwall in two days.

Jane’s aim is to raise £50,000 and offered match funding for all the donations: “I pledge to match fund every penny you give. Let’s make a difference together!”
