The Bourdeaux Shop hosts Cornwall Community Foundation on the Isles of Scilly
As a recent addition to The Cornwall Glass Group and the Cornwall Community Foundation (CCF) Business Club, the long-established Bourdeaux Shop on St Marys, Isles of Scilly were delighted to host CCF’s Outreach Officer on Friday 8th April. The day promoted awareness of the Foundation whilst engaging with many local groups throughout the Isles, in time for the forthcoming round of The Cornwall Glass FundA sum of money made available for grant making, often with specific criteria/conditions., being held by the Cornwall Group. Several community groups attended to speak with CCF about available funding and the procedures when applying for a grant, including Island Haven; a charity looking to purchase a home for islanders who have to go to Treliske regularly, the Methodist Church which is seeking funding for community activities and a group of locals who would like to start a farmers’ market on the Isles as a community projectA piece of work that delivers an output.. Katie Edwards, Store Manager at The Bourdeaux Shop said, “Both my awareness of the much needed and valued work that the Foundation do, and that of the many visitors on the day, were greatly enhanced and it would be fantastic to see many groups from our small Island community both making grant applications and receiving much-deserved funds in the coming months.” Colum Taylor, CCF Outreach Officer said, “Thank you to CCF Business Club member Mark Mitchell, owner of The Bourdeaux Shop and Cornwall Group, for hosting the latest Community Outreach drop-in session at The Bourdeaux Shop. It was a really successful day and I believe we have helped many community groups based on the Isles of Scilly.” The Cornwall Glass Fund wishes to give twenty awards of up to £1,000 and one award of up to £5,000 to community groups and organisations across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
