“Cornwall is my birthplace and where I grew up, and in spite of starting up a professional and personal life elsewhere, I always return home to Cornwall.
For me it makes complete sense to leave a legacy to the CCF in my will as there is no other place I would love to see thrive even more than Cornwall, especially in my field of work, in the arts.
If my legacy can eventually benefit more people to fulfil themselves creatively, as I’ve had the joy of doing, then it is all worthwhile.”
Your legacy can be a lifeline for communities across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
We know it can be difficult to choose which charities to support, which is why many donors decide to give via the Foundation to reach a diverse range of local causes.
By including Cornwall Community Foundation in your will, you’re making a lasting commitment to the county you love.
With our easy to follow guidance, leaving a gift is simple. Explore how you can create a will and ensure that our communities thrive, securing the future for generations to come.
By leaving a legacy to CCF
- You can specify the causes you want to support, or geographic area where you would like to focus your giving
- You can choose specific charities or groups who you would like to receive a gift and we can facilitate the payment for you
- Minimise the amount of inheritance tax due on your estate , as charitable gifts are exempt
We welcome legacies of all kinds, including:
- Pecuniary – a specified sum of money
- Specific – a specified item, such as shares or property
- Residuary – all or part of the Estate after any pecuniary legacies have been paid
- Reversionary – the residue of the Estate after the death of a surviving spouse
How it works:
leaving a legacy
There are three different ways to leave a gift to the Cornwall Community Foundation. And you can make a will for free with us, see more details below….
Support Cornwall and The Isles of Scilly by naming Cornwall Community Foundation as a beneficiary in your will. Funds can be used at our discretion across the Duchy to support a range of good causes and respond to urgent need.
We always recommend that you seek professional advice from a solicitor before writing or amending your Will. If including a gift to support Cornwall in your Will, you will need to provide your solicitor with our contact details: 1st Floor Aspect House, 17 Callywith Gate, Bodmin, Cornwall PL31 2RQ. Registered Charity no 1099977.

If you would like to notify us of a gift left in a will, you can contact our Development Director; tamara@cornwallcommunityfoundation.com.
We have more than 70 existing funds supporting a range of local communities and themes, such as youth projects and mental health. You may wish to leave a gift in you Will to a specific existing fund that fits well with your interests.
Larger gifts can be used to establish a named fund with the Foundation which acts much like a charitable trust. For example, a bequest of £25,000 can be used to create a permanent fund, held in our endowment, which will be carefully invested. The income from the fund will then be given away in grants each year in line with your wishes.
