Georgia’s Voice extend their reach with a grant from the Sedel-Collings Foundation
The Sedel-Collings Foundation
Georgia’s Voice is the legacy of beautiful daughter Georgia Lee Gallaway who took her own life on July 6th 2020. Set up 2021 Georgia’s Voice works to reduce the rate of suicide in young women by making them realise they are not alone, and this is not the only option.
A grant from the Sedel-Collings Foundation allowed Georgia’s Voice to achieve significant additional reach by employing a part-time freelance Administrator and a part-time freelance Events Coordinator. The two new roles enabled the team to attend over 20 events, launch six new support groups, and plan a year-long programme of future events.
The projectA piece of work that delivers an output. engaged 10 volunteers and directly benefited 225 individuals, primarily young women aged 19–25 facing mental health challenges. Activities included outreach at Freshers’ Fayres across Cornwall and increased community engagement through events and presentations.
Survey results highlighted successes, with 92% of participants reporting reduced stress, 85% noting improved self-esteem, and 77% experiencing enhanced mental health. Social benefits were also evident, with 100% reporting improved interpersonal skills and reduced loneliness.
This grant has enabled us to reach so many more women and help create healthier relationships within families and friendship groups. Many of our young women are now back in work or education since joining our support groups, they are successfully integrated back into the community.
Just want to say a huge thank you to you, your wonderful group and the Redruth team. My daughter went there for a few months and all the help and support has really helped her turn her life around. She is back working and doing A Levels at college and has friends now. This probably would not have been the outcomeAn outcome is the impact of a change. Outcomes measure impact by how much it affects society. if she did not receive the care and support from your team so thank you very much, much love to you and gratitude always.
