The Police Property Act FundA sum of money made available for grant making, often with specific criteria/conditions. for 2024 is aimed at preventing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). The priority of this fund is working in collaboration with women and young people to prevent and raise awareness of sexual violence.

To apply for a grant your organisation must meet the general Eligibility criteria. In addition to this, you must also meet the specific criteria of the grant listed below:
Who can apply:
- Charities, CICs and community and voluntary groups working in Cornwall or The Isles of Scilly
What it will support:
We welcome groups delivering PREVENTION projects by getting ahead of issues and intervening earlier. Groups will address attitudes and societal norms. They will aim to ensure everyone knows what healthy relationships look like and to recognise the signs of abuse.
Initiatives will improve awareness, of consent and developing healthy relationships. Applications could include, but are not limited to, the examples below:
- Work with young people in community settings to educate them in developing healthy relationships.
- Workforce development opportunity to upskill and inform staff groups within schools, youth clubs, community settings etc.
- Work with young people to educate them re: awareness of spiking.
- Applications are invited from small – medium sized voluntary, community & social enterprise (VCSE) groups & organisations in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The Fund can only award grants for activity that has a clear charitable purpose. As such, applications for core organisational running costs, maintenance, upkeep of facilities or buildings, etc, can be considered.
New applicants and previous grantees are welcome to apply although funding should not be sought for projects previously or already funded by the OPCC (Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner) for example, through the Serious Violence Prevention Programme or Vision Zero. Grants will be awarded up to a maximum of £5,000.
Grants will need to be spent within 12 months of receipt, and End of Grant reports & feedback must be provided within 3 months of the end of the grant period.
To be considered for funding, applications must:
- Be from an eligible group or organisation (see details below)
- Detail how the applicant organisation or group is qualified, experienced. and well placed to deliver the diversionary activities as outlined.
- Detail the rural or coastal area/s in which the project will run.
- Detail who the primary beneficiaries taking part in the activity/ies are and how this is intended to prevent violence against women and girls
- Detail costs & expenses to be covered by the grant
- Projects or activities outside Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly
- Commercial profit making organisations
- Organisations with significant free reserves
- Statutory/public sector organisations such as health authorities, schools, hospitals, parish and town councils
- Contributions to an endowment, payment of deficit funding or repayment of loans
- Grant making organisations or bodies who fundraise or distribute grants on behalf of other organisations
- Activities or projects which have already happened
- Regional offices of national bodies that do not benefit local people
- Organisations whose beneficiaries are not people
- Organisations or projects intended to influence people’s religious choices or to promote a particular belief system
- The promotion of political causes.
The funding has been made available from the Police (Property) Regulations which is a statutory requirement to deal with money and other property which comes into the possession of the Police in connection with criminal charges or which is handed in by members of the public.
