Business Club presents cheque for £3000 to Altarnun Village Hall
CCF Business Club members Sharon Stockdale of Stockdale Asset Management, and Kate Manning from Coodes Solicitors, visited Altarnun Village Hall to present a cheque for £3000 for renovation work to create additional storage space.
Business Club member Sharon Stockdale says, “It was a real pleasure to visit Altarnun Village Hall during one of their fortnightly meetings of Chatterbox, a community social group. The sense of community was evident with the lovely atmosphere in the hall. I was able to see first-hand the significant impact the hall has on those living in this rural community, and it was lovely to see how appreciated our donations are.”
Altarnun Village Hall host an array of local community groups who use the facility regularly, but over the past 5 years they have struggled with storing essential equipment for all the groups. The £3000 grant funded the conversion of loft space at Altarnun to create 300 square feet of dry, clean, and insulated space.
Peter Allen of Altarnun Village Hall says, “The creation of additional storage space ensures that our busy hall will be able to accommodate the storage needs of both existing and new community groups for the foreseeable future. The CCF Business Club grant, coupled with support from the community and a dedicated volunteer construction crew, has allowed us to improve facilities AND keep hire charges affordable.”
The Cornwall Business Club fund is comprised of a pool of donations from 55 Cornish member businesses, such as Stockdale Asset Management and Coodes Solicitors. In 2018, the fund awarded £36,000 and supported 18 community projects throughout Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Coodes Solicitors’ Kate Manning said, “We are proud to be founder members of the CCF Business Club and it’s great to be able to see the members’ contributions being put to such good use.”
