A new category has been added to this year’s Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Sustainability Awards (CSA).

The ‘Working Together – Social Sustainability’ award specifically recognises organisations who have been working positively with local communities to support inclusion, foster health and resilience, improve mental health, wellbeing and community development.

The Duchy of Cornwall is sponsoring the category and Cornwall Community Foundation is funding a £3k cash prize which will be given to the best projects supporting social sustainability.

Cornwall Community Foundation’s chief executive, Tamas Haydu, said: “We’re delighted to be able to provide the funds for this cash prize. Cornwall Community Foundation has been driving social sustainability since 2003 with grant awards that strengthen our communities. It is so important to celebrate organisations who focus on well-being, social equity and inclusion.”

Geraint Richards, ambassador for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly at the Duchy of Cornwall, added: “Creating social impact and community value are very much at the heart of the Duchy’s mission to become a world-leading impact organisation.

“We are delighted that we will be able to recognise, via this award, the incredible individuals and organisations who share this ambition in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.”

Cllr Loic Rich, portfolio holder for the environment & climate change at Cornwall Council, and one of the CSA judges, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for those working in this sector such as a community hub offering social prescribing, charity food bank, or social inclusion initiative and I would encourage people to apply or nominate an organisation if you know of anyone worthy of the prize”.

This year, applicants can apply for up to two categories. To see the full list of categories and criteria, click here.
