Cornwall Emergency Appeal boosted by donation from The Duke of Cornwall’s Benevolent Fund
The Cornwall Emergency Coronavirus Appeal has been boosted by a generous donation of £100,000 by The Duke of Cornwall’s Benevolent Fund. Tamas Haydu, Chief Executive of Cornwall Community Foundation, comments, “The donation from The Duke of Cornwall’s Benevolent Fund will make a very substantial difference to the charities and community groups in Cornwall who are working to support people struggling with the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic. The Fund additionally supports the Crisis Fund and the Young Carers programme in Cornwall.”
To support the charities helping their communities during Coronavirus, Cornwall Community Foundation (CCF) launched the Cornwall Emergency Coronavirus Appeal.
The Cornwall Emergency Coronavirus Appeal has been boosted by a generous donation of £100,000 by The Duke of Cornwall’s Benevolent Fund. Foodbanks and other frontline charities are all reporting an increase in demand for their services.”
Simon Fann, manager of Truro Foodbank, advises that they “In March 2020 we fed 533 people, nearly 50% being children. In comparison in the same period, 2019 we fed 192 people, 119 being adults and 73 being children.”
Tamas continues, “Applications already received for grants from the Emergency Appeal show that many more people than usual need support from charities and community groups to get through the crisis. The donation from The Duke of Cornwall’s Benevolent Fund means they will be able to help more people.”
