New initiative to support Cornish Charities

The Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall, Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho KCVO OBE, is launching a scheme to support the many and varied voluntary organisations in Cornwall in finding experienced trustees.
Cornwall is home to over 4,500 voluntary, community and social enterpriseA business that uses commercial strategies to improve social, environmental, and financial well-being. (VCSE) organisations, and whilst an estimated 32% of Cornish people volunteer in charities it can be challenging for those organisations to find people with the skills required for leadership, governance and oversight. In response to this need, Colonel Bolitho is setting up the Lieutenancy List. This is a confidential list of people with senior leadership experience who may be able to help charities at Board level, either as Chairs of Boards or Trustees assisting with finance, Human Resources, legal advice, and general common sense and experience driven governance.
Colonel Bolitho is now asking that local charities and not-for-profits, large or small, with trustee vacancies should email details of their organisation and the role they seek to fill, to Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum (VSF) at: comms@cornwallvsf.org.
This information will then appear on Cornwall VSF’s website: Trustee roles Archives | Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum as well as being circulated to Lieutenancy List members. Anyone is free to apply for these roles and is encouraged to do so.
Any questions regarding posting of vacancies should be addressed to: comms@cornwallvsf.org
