Partnerships with purpose: Clare Milne

Through our partnership with The Clare Milne Trust, we are proud to help deliver a small grants programme that supports grassroots organisations across Cornwall.

Each round, grants of between £500 – £5,000 are made to community groups that are deeply rooted in the places they serve and are therefore best placed to understand and respond to local need.

While modest in size, these grants consistently achieve meaningful and lasting outcomes. We know that for many local organisations, a small amount of timely and flexible funding can make a significant difference. It can help sustain a valued service, enable the development of a new initiative, or allow organisations to respond quickly to emerging challenges within their communities. In areas where demand continues to grow and resources remain stretched, this type of support can act as a powerful catalyst for positive change.

At Cornwall Community Foundation, we recognise the importance of accessible funding. Small grants are especially valuable for organisations that may not have the capacity or infrastructure to pursue larger or more complex funding opportunities. By maintaining a proportionate and approachable application process, we help ensure support reaches those working closest to community need, including organisations supporting disabled people and creating inclusive, safe and welcoming spaces where people can connect and thrive.

The Clare Milne Trust grants focus specifically on organisations that can clearly demonstrate the positive impact a grant will have for disabled people. Through our local knowledge, community insight and close relationships with voluntary and community organisations across Cornwall, we are able to help direct funding where it can have the greatest effect.

Beyond the immediate impact, these grants also strengthen the long-term resilience of local organisations. They help build confidence, encourage collaboration and provide opportunities for groups to test new approaches that may lead to further investment and support in the future.

For many organisations, receiving a Clare Milne Trust grant represents not only financial assistance, but also recognition and encouragement for the important work they do within their communities.

This trusted and locally informed process helps resources reach communities that are often underserved, while ensuring the voices and experiences of disabled people remain at the heart of decision-making.

Together, we are proud to support projects that demonstrate how small grants can create meaningful, inclusive impact. Through this programme, The Clare Milne Trust continues to invest in people, organisations and communities, showing that even modest funding can make a lasting difference when it is thoughtful, targeted and rooted in local need.
