CCF welcomes Friends and Business Club Members to Annual Drinks Party

CEO of WILD Young Parents Project presents to Friends and Business Club members|Guests enjoy canapes and drinks

On Tuesday 7th September 2021 we welcomed guests to our Annual Friends and Business Club Drinks Party, kindly hosted by Robert and Jane Hartley DL, Chairman of the Foundation, at Ellenglaze Manor, Cubert. Due to the Covid-19 crisis, this was the first drinks party since 2019 and it was a wonderful evening with drinks, canapes and conversation.

Jane Hartley DL, Chairman of CCF, thanked the gathering of eighty Friends and Business Club members, sharing examples of how donations from the Friends and Business Club have made a real difference to people’s lives. Jane also introduced Jo Davies, Chief Executive of WILD Young Parents Project as guest speaker.

WILD Young Parents Project is an award-winning community group that works with young parents, children and babies in the most deprived areas of Cornwall. Jo’s heartfelt presentation showed members the importance of her charity’s services for young families in Cornwall. Even before the pandemic, many of the families receiving support from WILD were facing huge challenges, and the pandemic has made some of those challenges even greater. Jo directly thanked the donors attending, saying that without the support from the Foundation, her charity may not have survived.

Jane Trahair, Trustee of the Foundation and Chairman of the Friends Committee, thanked Robert and Jane Hartley for hosting the event, her committee for catering and the Friends and Business Club members for their support, especially in such unprecedented times.

Tamas Haydu, Chief Executive of CCF, commented, “We were so pleased to hold an event in-person to thank our members for all their support over a tough year and a half. Last year our Friends donated more than £100,000 through their regular annual membership contributions, our Surviving Winter Appeal and the Emergency Appeal. Our Cornwall Business Club, the business arm of CCF, has invested more than £47,000 since November 2020 in community projects. We really are grateful for all the help. “
