Who are Cornwall Community Foundation?

For over two decades, Cornwall Community Foundation has been connecting generous donors with community groups making a difference across our region. By bringing these two groups together, we are supporting stronger, more resilient communities and addressing the unique challenges faced by people living in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Who are Cornwall Community Foundation?
With over 20 years of experience, we have built lasting relationships with donors and community groups alike. Working with supporters and those making change on the ground, our aim is to drive positive change for one and all across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
“CCF inspires philanthropy to meet local needs, channelling resources into transformative grassroots efforts.”
This support often comes in the form of grant funding, though we also work to connect groups, bring together donors, and share stories of positive change across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Through national, local, corporate and individual funders, we focus on providing grants that will benefit those living in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
With a local and highly knowledgeable team, we understand the unique challenges of the region. By regularly meeting with and talking to the charities and groups working for change, we strive to be led by the needs of the community.
Alongside this, we work with the University of Exeter to create our ‘Vital Signs’ reports that give us an insight into funding priorities and the experiences of those living in the area.

Where is Cornwall now?
Cornwall is beautiful, but it’s not without hardship. Behind the postcard imagery lies a complex reality many visitors never see.
Cornwall’s housing shortage – An ongoing housing shortage has pushed home ownership out of reach for many locals, leaving many families in precarious living situations.
Cornwall’s local economy – In-work poverty is a stark reality. With seasonal employment, low wages, and limited opportunities for career progression, many working families face financial instability year-round.
Cornwall’s education and opportunity – young people in Cornwall often face barriers to education and training, especially in rural areas. A lack of local opportunities and digital exclusion make it harder for them to achieve their full potential.
Cornwall’s rural isolationLack of access to people, services and transportation due to rural location. – thousands of residents experience rural isolation, particularly older people and those without access to transport. In many areas, basic services are difficult to reach, leaving communities feeling disconnected and unsupported.
Cornwall’s environment – while Cornwall’s natural environment is one of its greatest assets, it’s also at risk. Climate change, coastal erosion, and a lack of investment in sustainable practices are placing pressure on our landscapes and communities.
These are the areas of impact that we focus on as an organisation and seek to support the community groups addressing these issues daily. Find out more about these areas in our Vital Signs 2022 report.

What are we doing to help?
Since we were founded in 2003, we have awarded over £20 million in small grants. These have made an enormous difference to grassroots organisationsGroups of people coming together on a local level to address an issue.. We do this by:
Supporting community groups with financial resources and application guidance. Our grants range from a few hundred pounds to several thousands. They often make the difference between a project happening (and continuing to thrive) or not.
Connecting the people that care about Cornwall. We bring together donors, community leaders, and organisations to share knowledge, build partnerships, and develop collaborative solutions to the challenges our communities face.
Carefully managing funds entrusted to us, making sure they reach the people and places who need them most.
