£20 million awarded to Cornwall & Isles of Scilly communities
£20 million in grants has been awarded to 8,626 projects in Cornwall & Isles of Scilly communities by Cornwall Community Foundation (CCF) since 2003.
The significant milestone has been reached by the Foundation thanks to the vital backing of donors, supporters, friends, public sector partners and businesses who have donated their time, money, and ideas to the charity.
£20 million in grants has been distributed to groups doing incredible work in making the Duchy a great place for everyone to live, working to overcome the challenges of disadvantage, exclusion and poverty in their communities.
One community organisation which has received essential funding via the Foundation i Community Enterprises PL12 (CEP12) in Saltash. It provides a community fridge, shop, transport, kitchen, hub premises along with a Dementia group and choir, for those living with or affected by dementia.
Cathy Jane, one of nine volunteer Directors at CEP12 said: “Without the support of the Cornwall Community Foundation, our own community organisation would not be so strongly positioned to continue to help the people in our area. The Foundation has been absolutely instrumental in the funding of the salary of our Community Kitchen Manager, Chris Cook. Without their support in doing this, there was a very real possibility that the beautifully renovated Community Kitchen project would never have achieved any of its potential.”
CEP12 has also provided support to people in need through their Community Kitchen over the last two years with a designated Warmth Bank, providing access to a local social prescriber and hot drinks and food from some of the 5 tonnes of food which is rescued each year from local retailers.

CCF is proud to have worked with donors of all sizes from the NHS Integrated Care Board, which has distributed more than £2 million over the past two years, to the Friends of CCF, many of whom have supported us for 20 years.
Tamas Haydu, Chief Executive, CCF said: “The Foundation team has worked incredibly hard over the years to distribute £20 million in grants to 8,621 projects in Cornwall & Isles of Scilly communities since 2003. This work has been done in partnership with corporate, private and public donors, most importantly for the benefit of all in Cornwall, to help communities and people most in need.”
Kim Conchie DL FRSA, Chair of Trustees, CCF added: “We would like to extend a huge thank you to our supporters who have given generously, most recently in response to our appeals, including the Cost of Living Crisis Fund which have helped people in the county during difficult times. We know the need hasn’t lessened on the ground. Donations to CCF are critical to help fund services and organisations, such as CEP12, who are making a significant difference to lives here in Cornwall.”
Colonel Sir Edward Bolitho KCVO OBE, Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall and President of the CCF, said: “We are so lucky to live and work in Cornwall, amongst such supportive donors, who are all working to make this such a wonderful place. The Foundation plays a brilliant role in supporting and strengthening communities here for the good of all and everyone should take real pride in all that has been achieved to date; the best is yet to come!”
